Unexploited by humans and minimal tourists flow, The Forest has a serene and tranquil environment. There are numerous trees of different species, with some of them having medicinal value and more than 200 classes of birds, making it ideal for bird watchers. Be sure to carry your binoculars to enjoy the spectacular landscape and scenic views.
It has an array of activities, including archery, horse riding, hiking, mountain biking, paintball and Segway tours. The big draw, however, is the ziplines, The Forest Adventure center offers an international level of safety standard and highly trained instructors. Too much to miss out!
Day 1: Zipline, paintball and ride, camping
We arrive to a great view of the Abedares forest from the restaurant terrace. Immediately after breakfast we buckle up and zip away and gliding above the forest canopy. The ziplines are arranged in a series of six ziplines that traverse the valley spanning over 2km with trekking sections in-between.
We shall then come back to the center and begin our bike ride on forest trails that meander through the diverse landscapes which include open meadows and winding tracks across hills and valleys with quaint shallow streams and which also offer sweeping corners and exciting jumps.
After lunch we shall battle it out on the paintball field; pick your team, get kitted out and start dodging exploding paint balls in a woodland setting, paintball is one of the most exhilarating activities at The Forest.
We shall then camp out under the stars in the coziness of a campsite surrounded by trees
Day Two: Trek to the waterfalls
Duration 4-5hours
After breakfast we embark on a 4-5hr walk on animal trails through the natural forest and bamboo, a habitat of the forest elephants, black and white colobus and sykes monkeys. The birdlife is amazing hosting the globally threatened Abbot’s starling among others like the bar tailed trogons. The trek is challenging when wet but moderate when dry.
Halfway through the trek we shall arrive at the scenic waterfalls and caves where the giant ferns give you a feeling of stepping into pre historic times. You will also have an opportunity to dip into the elephant swimming pool and get to discover where the mysterious bubbles emanate from.
We shall then head back to the adventure center, have lunch and leaving the afternoon open for anyone who wants to do more activities before proceeding back to Nairobi.
