Volink serves as a connection between volunteers who want to help and learn, with projects in Africa that need an extra hand. Volunteers can be persons of any age who are seeking new challenges and learning opportunities. We work closely with our programme partner institutions and projects to find suitable placements for both local and international volunteers.
Our programmes provide volunteers with opportunities to travel and live with local communities, acquire practical knowledge and skills, gain meaningful experiences, increase personal social networks, widen their perspectives and give back to society, amongst other benefits. Our partnering projects are varied to fit our clients’ needs – the opportunities are in education, special needs education, health, agriculture, community service and development, livelihoods, research, environmental and wildlife conservation and animal welfare.
For local volunteers, and particularly the youth, we have designed a gap programme to suit those periods when young adults are on holiday. This could be post high school and between academic years. Our gap programme also caters for those who have completed college or university and may still be in the process of seeking jobs and those are on vacation from workplaces. We recommend a one-month programme where clients undertake social work (volunteer), go through an adventurous outdoor learning experience and are coached on work-related skills. The benefits to an individual are immense!
The projects are located in Kenya’s Rift Valley, Nairobi City, the Coastal region, and in Uganda. Volunteers may wish to be placed in a project for a period of one week, month(s), to longer periods of one year and more. This is also dependent on the project’s needs.
Volink’s services include logistical support, placement to projects, coordination and oversight during volunteering period, references on request, advisory on local travel, and more.
